Birthday, 2 Months, Hospitals

Soooo yeah, we are at the hospital for little B. Let me give a little bit of detail on the whole story.

Pauline had taken Benson into our normal clinic on Monday the 15th due to some dry red skin blotches on his face and chest. The doctor had referenced that she was worried about his weight and wanted Pauline to supplement with formula after the normal nursing, and then at the normal appointment for the 18th they would see where he's at.

One big blessing is that I was able to get out of work early to be able to go to the doctor's appointment with Pauline. After I got tickets to Mary Poppins for next Thursday (so pumped!), Pauline picked me up and we proceeded to Benson's appointment. I felt we did a pretty good job of feeding him so I was sure that he gained some weight. We got there and the nurse weighed him and did some normal checks, we waited a relatively long time for our doctor, but when she finally got in she said, "I don't mean to drop a bomb on you, but I am a little worried about Benson's weight," not the best language to hear from a doctor. She referenced that she wanted us to check into the hospital and have him observed for a couple days to see why he is not gaining.

To be honest I was a little frustrated at first, I felt like there should have been a little more they could have referenced for us to do, rather than check us into the hospital. Also I suppose that I was being selfish that this was going to take up my birthday time and plans that we had. We got to the hospital and the doctor was very reassuring that it is not something where they were worried about any other part of his health besides his weight. And since he is growing length-wise, head-wise, etc. that they weren't worried about doing any extra tests, but just wanted to observe a set feeding schedule and make sure that he gains weight.

After following the schedule the whole rest of yesterday and even doing it overnight, they weighed him this morning and he was up to 8lbs .4 ounces! Which was a full 3.4 ounces more, which is what they were hoping for. They do still want to keep him here tonight to make sure it is consistent and that he remains that gaining pattern.

He is already looking better and seems to be very happy! We will keep you posted on any further updates, but everything appears to be good! Thanks for all your prayers and support!

Oops Quite a Big Gap Between Posts

My bad...

Bringing up Benson is a task and a half and I have been bad about posting to this blog when I had planned on writing a post 3 or 4 times a week... Can you say lazy?

Well, we are back on and you can look forward to more posts now ladies and gentleman!

I do want to take a moment to honor the memory of those lost and those injured at the Boston marathon, our prayers are with the victims families. No matter what someone's background is, what they did wrong in this world, where they come from, what clothes they wear, what they chose to do on a Monday afternoon or what you think their country has done to you, no one deserves to die or get injured in that way. It sickens me that the world has become such a cruel place, we can only hope for a better future in our eternal home, which begs the question, do you know where you are going?

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:1, 2 ESV)

That being said, today will unfortunately live in infamy because of what happened today.

Benson tidbits!!

Little b is officially 8 weeks old today! Even though technically he will be 2 months on my birthday.

B squared have recently enjoyed hanging out together well into the hours of 1 or 2 in the morning, having a swell old time... Benson cries I "shoosh" as best I can, but eventually, he falls asleep on me and I get to play about 30 minutes of whatever video game I have in the Xbox at that time. Daddy/son hangout time? I think yes!

Mommy took Benson to the clinic today because of a rash that was all over his head and a little on his chest. Nothing serious, just some medicated lotion twice. a day, he already looks ten times better! Unfortunately they also referenced B is too skinny and needs to be supplemented with formula after nursing, which is a little disappointing, but mommy P and I are chugging (no pun intended) along!

Quick side note about the formula feeding........... The diapers........... Smell............ 10000 times worse then they used to! Nearly gaged changing him... Thank God we just recently purchased the diaper genie, which granted my wish after I threw that diaper in!

BPK is also smiling a lot more! He looks a lot like his mommy when he does and just makes you wanna squeeze him, but not too hard!

This is going to sound crazy so you are going to want to let me finish the statement before jumping to conclusions. I absolutely love to change Benson's diaper on his changing table... BECAUSE now when I lay him down to change him he starts to talk to me! Such cute "coos" and "awhs."

We are feeling more and more blessed each day with our little "peanut" (not to be confused with P-Nut, Fridley crew will know what I am talking about). Thanks so much for everyone's kind words, little gifts, and mostly for the prayers! We couldn't be the parents we are without the love of the Savior who FIRST loved us.

Thanks for reading!
